Case 004

The Murdaugh Murders

On June 7, 2021, 52-year-old Maggie and her 22-year-old son, Paul, were shot dead at Moselle, the family’s 1770-acre estate in the small town of Islandton, South Carolina. Alex Murdaugh was recently convicted of their murders after a six-week trial.

This case received National and international attention and it’s much bigger than the horrific execution style murders of Maggie and Paul. There are other victims - Mallory Beach who died in a boat crash in 2019, Gloria Satterfield who died mysteriously at the Murdaugh house on 2018 and Stephen Smith who was found dead in the middle of a road in 2015 who have been overshadowed by the Murdaugh family.

This case is disturbing and horrific. It’s also complex, complicated and seemingly never ending. Join Laura as she cuts through the noise and nonsense and deconstructs the victimology, the crime scene behaviour, law enforcement’s (in)actions, the timeline, the psychology and the power and control dynamics in this case.
