I’ve never seen the appeal of true crime podcasts, they often just take advantage of the sensationalist points in someone’s tragedy or heartbreak. Crime Analyst is the antithesis of these podcasts.
I was so thankful to discover Laura and her Crime Analyst podcast on the train one day. It was an episode on coercive control with Jess Hill and I just happened to be on way to my DFV counselling session. I nearly missed my stop as there where so many lightbulbs going off in my head. This was a discussion of my life! My ex partner was exactly the person they were describing. And he was still trying to control me months after separation.
This changed my life in the best way. I was able to recognize the mechanisms of coercive control and slowly form a resistance. And i now had the language to explain what had happened to me!
Laura is such a gift to society. The way she speaks about and relates to victim-survivors is full of admiration and love. You hear her passion as much as her immense knowledge. She talks to survivors and puts them in a position to tell their story in their own words. I am eternally grateful for the resources and clarity that CA has bought to my life x
