Meredith Kercher, a 21-year-old British student, was murdered in Perugia, Italy, on November 1, 2007, in the apartment she shared with American Amanda Knox. Rudy Guede was convicted of the sexual assault and murder in 2008, serving 13 years of a 16-year sentence. Knox and Raffaele Sollecito were initially convicted, then acquitted in 2015.
