Ep 386 Remastered: The Forgotten Victims: The A1 Linked Attacks, Continued Part 6

Show Notes

In this remastered Crime Analyst series, Laura Richards puts the women back at the centre of the story. For decades, the women murdered and attacked by Peter Sutcliffe (known as PS in this series) were overshadowed by the man who targeted them.

In this episode you will hear from former DC Andrew Laptew himself who interviewed PS for two hours. He and his colleague came away unhappy with him. He detailed his findings in a report, concluding that PS should be arrested and submitted it to George Oldfield, the Assistant Chief Constable in charge of the investigation. He received an unbelievable response. Laura also details Tracy Browne’s reaction to the Geordie voice on the tape, a staggering decision made by Chief Constable Gregory in the wake of Tracy Browne’s statement and important new information received by the police about the tape and letters. See Crime Analyst Instagram, Facebook or join the Crime Analyst Squad for photofits and graphics.

Laura’s specialist unit at New Scotland Yard was later created due to the catastrophic failures in the case. It remains one of the most misunderstood serial murder cases of our time - and why Crime Analyst refuses to use the moniker that made him famous while the women became the forgotten victims.

Join Laura in the intelligence cell as she re-examines the case through an expert behavioural analysis lens, centering the victims whilst focusing on risk and prevention.

Listener discretion advised. This episode contains graphic details and may be triggering and/or upsetting.
