Thank you
The quality of this podcast has been outstanding. Interesting format at all times. Your expertise shines through and I’ve learned so much about coercive control, himpathy, patriarchy and misogyny that I can take forward in all areas of my life. Analysing the crime with the victim as central has showcased the awful lives so many women live with and hide daily and I’d love to see a world where women can live safely and in comfort. This podcast helps achieve this. I’ve listened to cases i’d never heard about in my patch of the world (Australia) and wish that all states here hear your words and make necessary changes. Thank you Laura for your thoughts, efforts, guidance, wisdoms, expertise. So there’s that.
Remarkable
Laura is a remarkable woman with a wealth of knowledge that comes from real life crime analysis. Laura is a no-nonsense advocate for victims of crime and domestic abuse. I’m in awe of her, and you will be too! I highly recommend this podcast. Thank you Laura.
Very Informative
Your show motivates me to take action on the injustices I see. It also helps me to remove blinders to some of injustices and biases I experience everyday as a woman.
This show should be required in High Schools
I could listen to Laura read an inventory report or recipe as I love her accent. More importantly she is an advocate for women and is educating the public one episode at a time. If every teenage girl and boy could learn from her message, many crimes would be prevented.
Excellent
Coercive control is something we need to educate many about. Outstanding podcast and she does an amazing deep dive and she exposes all the details so you understand the entire picture. Great work!
Go beyond True Crime to Real Crime Analysis
Taking forensic, psychological, social and behavioural analysis to the next level, Laura, an expert with decades of experience will, with needlepoint precision, lead you through the micro and macro timelines and environments surrounding crimes, ensuring the journey both honours and respects those affected with her victim-centred and led approach. She takes you with her on her thought processes and decisions with extensive research and evidence substantiating her analysis at every turn. Anyone with an interest in seeing vindication for the victims and a deeper understanding of the relentless pursuit of truth and justice from a forensic behavioural expert need look no further. Sheer brilliance.
I learn so much from Laura!
I love Laura’s insights and knowledge. Accent helps as well 🙂
Crime podcasts are powerful vehicles
I came of age in the 1970s, and am amazed that crime podcasts are powerful vehicles across borders for legal information, activism, guidance and community in the drive to overcome violent harms of patriarchy.
The Murdaugh murders
I have to say that you can’t say that murder is the worst thing and that drug addicts who don’t murder are not disastrous to families. Drug addiction is incredibly toxic and is like a murder, only it is disenfranchised if no one “dies”. Crime against family and children is a nightmare even if murder is not committed. And this is what Alex Murdaugh did BEFORE he murdered. And the other people who died around him are lost forever. The girl on the boat and the boy on the road and the housekeeper. It’s a nightmare that was happening for years prior. Drug addiction kills souls without bodies. ….
So good!
Deep dives into criminal minds. All women should listen.
An inspiration and education
Laura is so incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. I’ve been listening for so long and I think her strength and power has rubbed off on me! What a life changing podcast! Amazing Laura thank you for sharing of yourself and work!
Best true crime podcast by a mile!
Why is this the best true crime podcast? Because it focuses on the victims of crime and doesn’t glamorise the crimes or treat the criminals as celebrities. This is how all true crime podcast should be presented. And let’s face it, most victims of crime, especially violent, sexually motivated crime are women and children. But whoever the victims are, THEY should be given the attention they deserve. Let the perpetrators fade into the obscurity they deserve.
Excellent!
Spectacular analysis on the Murdaugh case!
Always absolutely fascinating
Informative and valuable. One of the best crime podcasts of the genre.
Crime Analyst
Really enjoying the expertise and detail in breaking down crimes and criminal behaviours covered so far. Highly recommended this podcast.
A thoughtful compelling deep dive into facets of the Murdaugh Trial that have not been discussed.
Great voice and delivery AND compliments Mandy Matney and all the hard work she put into her Podcast!
Petito , Lacy and Connor and Murdaugh.
The information, detail and guidance provided by Laura on analyzing not only these horrific murders, but that we must speak out about this ongoing atrocities that occur daily to women and children. Laura is amazing, caring and an excellent human and teacher. Thank you for opening my eyes to all important issues that need to be addressed and changed in our society. I am a mom to a wonderful daughter and granddaughter. Who, because of Laura’s podcast, I will make sure these issues are addressed with my lovely girls. Thank you! Keep going!
Outstanding content, done with sensitivity.
Laura’s podcast, while unflinching in its gaze at horrific crimes, is so incredibly sensitive and victim centered. If I could pick one episode I think everyone on earth should hear, it would be episode 141. Her conversation around the trauma the families of murderers and serial murderers suffer and how we can refrain from adding to it is so important. Laura is outstanding at framing just the right questions that generate thoughtful conversations. I learn something every time. If you have sensitive ears you will love the quiet feel of this podcast as well as Laura’s voice. If I could give six stars I would.
Unequalled; the REAL deal
Laura has the experience and expertise that does not exist in crime podcasts. She will teach you so much and not just about the specific crime, but how to look at everything with a critical eye allowing you to see what is truly going on. It doesn’t hurt that she has a wonderfully melodious British accent. But, this is not entertainment. Laura never forgets, and does not allow you to forget, that these are real people with real loved ones who survive and deserve respect and care.
Laura never disappoints!
Fascinating episode #141 on Dennis Rader & Rex Heuermann. Kerri spoke so eloquently about her experience of living with a psychopath as a father and shared a little of what that was like. What is really interesting for me is this whole field of research that is underway into genetics and psychopathy that Laura talks about I have been so intrigued by this since I read ‘A Mind to Crime by Anne Moir & David Jessel as an undergraduate. Do listen - Laura is an absolute master at getting to the truth and making sure the listener understands. Excellent 5 stars.
Brilliant podcast!!!
Having listened to Laura over many years now I have learnt SO much about the dangerous behavioural patterns associated with (amongst things) coercive control, domestic abuse and stalking. Laura’s skills, expertise and years of experience in this field are second to none. Crime Analyst breaks down real life cases, and is full of information with which the listener can use to recognise patterns of abuse. Laura also has amazing and informative guests on, who have often themselves been a victim of abuse and bravely come on to share their experience in order to help us better understand and recognise the behavioural patterns of abusers. I highly recommend this podcast to everyone I know. Such important content.
Awesome Podcast!
When I need accurate and thorough information ..Laura Richards and Crime Analyst podcast is the first place I look. I love this podcast!! Laura has actually “battled in the trenches” so to speak. Loads of respect!!
A141
This is so weird. I talked to my mum about coersive control just a day ago. My dad was a abusive father to me and husband to her. I had to rewind this episode several times and save it because it just first made me cry so hard and then made so much sense.
Strong podcast
For me, this is by far the most informative podcast on violence against women / true crime. It provides so much insights into the mechanisms of control and listening to Laura being very detailed in her analysis is so exciting. One can really learn a lot listening to this podcast. Thank you, Laura, for being such a strong advocate for women! And I really love listening to your voice!
